Site Inductions
Online site induction app with one QR code at the gate.
Anyone can complete your site induction by scanning a QR code at the gate. It opens in their phone's browser with no login, and unlimited inductions are free on every plan.
No credit card needed. Unlimited inductions on every plan.

A site induction makes sure everyone who steps onto a construction site understands the site rules, hazards and emergency procedures before they start work. Whether a formal induction is compulsory depends on your state and the kind of build, but your duty to tell people about the hazards applies everywhere, and an induction is the version that leaves a record.
With Foreman, each site gets a QR code poster for the gate. Workers, subbies and visitors complete an online induction on their own phone, and you get a register with each person's company, white card number, emergency contact and signature.
Sound familiar?
- The sign-in book at the gate is soaked, half blank, or gone with the last skip bin.
- The subbie who turns up on Thursday never saw the SWMS everyone else signed on Monday.
- A head contractor asks who was inducted on the job, and the answer is a clipboard in someone's ute.
What you get with Site Inductions
Scan at the gate, or send the link the day before
Every site has a QR poster and a link. Text the link to a new subbie the night before and they arrive already inducted.
Nothing to install, no login
The induction opens in the phone's browser, so a subbie finishes it at the gate instead of arguing about an app.
Visitors skip the white card
A visitor ticks Visitor and isn't asked for a card. A worker without one yet can say so, and the register flags it.
They read your documents before they sign
Attach the SWMS, site rules and safety plan to the project, and they open on the induction page above the signature.
A signed PDF for every induction
Open any record, or download every induction on a site as signed PDFs and the register as a CSV, when a head contractor or auditor asks.
Your crew check in with the same code
Turn on check-in and crew scan the same poster to clock in and out. Each shift lands in the site diary.
What the subbie sees at the gate, and what you see in the office
They scan the poster at the gate, or open the link you texted them. The induction opens in their phone’s browser: your site documents first, then the declaration and a signature. Nothing to install, no login.

How Site Inductions works

Set up your site induction content once for each project.
- 2
Download the print-ready poster for the gate, or copy the induction link and text it to anyone starting next week.

Workers and visitors scan the code and complete the induction on their phone.
- 4
Every induction is logged with a signature in your induction register.
What's on every induction record
Each person inducts once per site. This is what the register keeps for each of them.
| Field | Who fills it in | Where you see it |
|---|---|---|
| Worker or visitor | The person, on their phone | The register shows a Visitor badge |
| Name, phone and company | The worker or visitor, on their phone | The site's induction register |
| White card number | The worker, or marked as not held yet | The person's full record |
| Emergency contact name and phone | The worker | The person's full record |
| Signature | The worker, on screen | The person's full record |
| Site address as signed | Filled in by Foreman | The person's full record |
| Date and time, to the minute | Stamped by Foreman | The register and the full record |
Inductions can also be exported as signed PDFs, and every project's data, including the register, can be downloaded as a zip.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a site induction?
- A site induction is a briefing on the hazards, rules and emergency procedures of one particular site, given before someone starts work there and recorded so you can show they were told. Victoria requires site-specific training by regulation. Elsewhere the rules differ by state and by type of job, but an induction is the usual way to meet the duty to inform workers.
- Are site inductions really free in Foreman?
- Yes. Unlimited site inductions are free on every Foreman plan, including the free plan. Induction-only users and visitors never count towards your paid users.
- Do workers need to download an app to be inducted?
- No. Workers scan a QR code at the gate and complete the induction in their phone's browser, with no app download and no login required.
- Can I use Foreman as a contractor induction app?
- Yes. Subbies and other contractors scan the site's QR code or open a link you text them, read your documents, add their details and sign on screen in their phone's browser. There is nothing to install, and people who only induct are never billed.
- Do I need to upload documents before the QR code works?
- No. Every site's QR code opens the induction straight away, even before you add anything. Add your induction text and any OH&S documents you want people to read first, such as a SWMS or your insurance certificates, whenever you're ready.
- Do I need to build an induction form as well?
- No. The site induction comes with every project through its QR code. Form templates are a separate tool for things your site manager fills in, like incident reports or toolbox talks.
- Does Foreman keep a record of who has been inducted?
- Yes. Every completed induction is stored with a digital signature in an audit-ready induction register for each site.
