Foreman is site software for small Australian demolition contractors. Workers and labour hire induct by QR code at the gate, reading your SWMS and hazardous materials survey before they sign. Crew clock in and out and log the day with photos, and site managers run daily pre-starts and plant checks on their phone, all saved against the job.

Sound familiar?

  • Labour hire turns up at 6:30 and you're inducting them off a clipboard while the excavator waits.
  • A neighbour says the job cracked their driveway, and the before photos are on someone's phone.
  • Crews move between three jobs a week and the hours come in by text on Friday.

Questions from demolition contractors

Does demolition work need a SWMS?
Usually, yes. Demolition of a load-bearing structure and work likely to disturb asbestos are both high risk construction work, and high risk construction work needs a SWMS before it starts. Victoria's wording on demolition is broader. Our guide to what a SWMS is covers who writes one and links your state regulator.
Do labour hire workers cost anything to induct?
No. Anyone who only inducts at the gate is never counted on your bill, however many labour hire workers and subbies come through. You only pay for people with a Foreman login, such as your own crew who clock in and your site managers.
Can photos help with a neighbour or client damage claim?
Dated photos taken before work starts are the record you'll want. In Foreman, photos attach to that day's diary entry against the job, with the time it was submitted, and you can export the diary as a PDF with the photos when someone asks.
Can I keep pre-starts and plant checks to site managers?
Yes. When you build a form you can limit it to site managers and admins, so it only appears for the people who should complete it. Add a date field locked to today and it can't be backdated, and add photo fields for anything the check turns up.
We're on BuildPass or paper. How hard is it to switch?
Setting up a job means uploading your SWMS, printing the gate poster and building your forms. Hand Claude or ChatGPT your paper pre-start or SWMS as a PDF and it can build the form in Foreman for you. Your first job is free, so run one job on Foreman before you move the rest, and tell us if you'd like help bringing your records across.
