How AI + MCP works

In Foreman, go to Settings and connect your AI assistant, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini. This takes a couple of clicks and only needs to be done once.

Open that AI assistant as you normally would, not Foreman. That's where you'll ask your questions from now on.

Ask it about any project in plain English, like "Which sites haven't logged a diary today?" or "How long did our last three bathroom renovations take?"

Ask it to make changes too, like "Log today's diary for Smith St" or "Create a task for the plumber at Brighton Rd", and it writes the update straight into Foreman.

- Inside the AI assistant itself, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini, not inside Foreman. Once you've connected it, you just open that app and start asking.
- Can my AI assistant only search, or can it make changes in Foreman too?
- Both. You can ask it to search your projects, and you can also ask it to log a site diary entry, create a task or update project details, and it writes the change straight back into Foreman.
- Do I need to understand MCP to use this?
- No. MCP is just the name of the technical connection between your AI assistant and Foreman. You connect it once from Foreman's settings, and from then on you simply ask your AI assistant questions like you would ask a person.
- Is my data private when I connect an AI assistant to Foreman?
- Yes. Your AI assistant only ever sees the projects and data your Foreman account already has permission to see, the same as when you log in yourself.
