MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets an AI assistant read and write another app's data. Foreman already holds every site diary, photo, induction, task and document for every job you run. Connect an AI assistant to your Foreman account once, and it can read that information to answer your questions.
It works the other way too. Ask your assistant to log a site diary entry, create a task or update a project's details, and it writes the change straight back into Foreman. You don't need to open Foreman at all, you just ask your AI assistant.

In your AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, add Foreman as a connector using the server address from Foreman's API & integrations page. Sign in, tap Allow, and you only do it once.

Open that AI assistant as you normally would, not Foreman. That's where you'll ask your questions from now on.

Ask it about any project in plain English, like "Which sites haven't logged a diary today?" or "How long did our last three bathroom renovations take?"

Ask it to make changes too, like "Log today's diary for Smith St" or "Create a task for the plumber at Brighton Rd", and it writes the update straight into Foreman.

- Can I use ChatGPT with Foreman?
- Yes, on a paid ChatGPT plan with Developer mode turned on, which ChatGPT needs before it can use custom connectors. If you don't have that, Claude is the easier way in.
- Can I use Claude with Foreman instead of ChatGPT?
- Yes. Claude is the easier way in if you don't have a paid ChatGPT plan. Foreman also connects to other AI assistants that support MCP connectors.
- Where do I ask my AI assistant about my Foreman projects?
- Inside the AI assistant itself, such as Claude or ChatGPT. Once you've connected it, open that app and start asking.
- Can my AI assistant only search, or can it make changes in Foreman too?
- Both. You can ask it to search your projects, and you can also ask it to log a site diary entry, create a task or update project details, and it writes the change straight back into Foreman.
- Do I need to understand MCP to use this?
- No. MCP is the name of the connection between your AI assistant and Foreman. You set it up once from inside your assistant, and from then on you ask it questions the way you would ask a person.
- Is my data private when I connect an AI assistant to Foreman?
- Your assistant sees your whole Foreman account, the same as an Admin, and nothing outside it. Whatever it reads is processed by the assistant's provider, such as Anthropic or OpenAI, under their terms, so check your plan's data settings before you connect.
