How to connect ChatGPT or Claude to Foreman

Paste one address into your assistant, sign in to Foreman, tap Allow. Then ask it about your sites.

To connect Claude or ChatGPT to Foreman, add Foreman's server address as a custom connector in your assistant, sign in to Foreman when it asks, and tap Allow. There's no key to copy and no code to write. You need to be a Foreman Admin. Once connected, the assistant can answer questions about your sites and create records for you.

The server address is:

https://app.foremanapp.com.au/api/mcp

Before you start

Only an Admin can connect an assistant. If a Site Manager or Site Crew member tries, Foreman shows a message asking them to get an Admin to do it.

The connection works as an Admin across your whole Foreman account. The assistant can see every project and can create and change real records, so treat it like a new office admin and keep an eye on what it does in the first few weeks.

No Foreman account yet? The sign-in screen that opens during connection has a sign-up option, so you can create one on the way through.

Find the server address in Foreman

  1. Go to Settings > API & integrations.
  2. Scroll to Connect an AI assistant.
  3. Under Server URL, tap Copy.

Nothing on that page starts the connection. You always start it from your assistant.

Connect Claude

This works in Claude Desktop and on claude.ai.

  1. In Claude, go to Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector.
  2. Paste the Foreman server address.
  3. Click Add.
  4. A Foreman sign-in opens in your browser. Sign in (or sign up).
  5. Foreman shows a screen asking to let Claude access your account. Tap Allow.

Claude remembers the connection from then on, so you can start asking about your sites.

Connect ChatGPT

ChatGPT needs a paid plan with Developer mode turned on before it can use custom connectors. If you don't have that, Claude is the easier way in.

  1. In ChatGPT, go to Settings > Apps & Connectors > Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Back in Settings > Apps & Connectors, choose Create.
  3. Name it "Foreman" and paste the Foreman server address as the connector URL.
  4. Sign in to Foreman when asked and tap Allow.
  5. Turn the connector on in the conversation where you want to use it.

Those menu names belong to ChatGPT and Claude, and they may move as those apps change. If something isn't where we've said, look for the connector settings.

Gemini and other assistants

Foreman works with any assistant that can connect to a remote MCP server. MCP is the standard way AI assistants plug into other apps. You don't need to know how it works to use it. The steps look much the same everywhere:

  1. Open your assistant's connector or MCP settings.
  2. Add a new server and paste the Foreman server address.
  3. Connect, and approve access in the Foreman window that opens.

If your assistant can't do the one-click sign-in, there's a fallback using your Foreman API key, which also lives on the API & integrations page. That route is mainly for developers wiring Foreman into coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code. The setup for each is in the Foreman developer docs.

Disconnect an assistant

Remove the Foreman connector in your assistant's settings. Access stops straight away.

If you connected with an API key, regenerating the key on the API & integrations page cuts off every assistant using it. Regenerating doesn't affect connections made the one-click way. End those from the assistant.

If something doesn't look right

  • Every Foreman request says it needs authentication. The sign-in wasn't finished, often because the browser window was closed before tapping Allow. In Claude, open the Foreman connector in Settings > Connectors and connect again.
  • "Only an Admin can connect an AI assistant." You're signed in as a Site Manager or Site Crew member. Ask an Admin to connect, or sign in with an Admin account.
  • The assistant can read but says your subscription is inactive when it tries to change something. Your paid subscription has been cancelled, so Foreman is read-only. Reactivate it from Settings > Billing. See the free plan and the paid plan.

What to do next

Try a question such as "What happened on site today?" There's a list of examples, and what the assistant can and can't do, in what you can ask your AI assistant. For an overview, see Foreman's AI assistant connection.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an API key to connect Claude or ChatGPT to Foreman?
No. Add Foreman's server address, https://app.foremanapp.com.au/api/mcp, as a custom connector in your assistant, sign in to Foreman when asked, and tap Allow. The API key route exists for developers and for assistants that can't do the one-click sign-in.
Who can connect an AI assistant to Foreman?
Only an Admin. The connection works as an Admin across the whole Foreman account, so Site Managers and Site Crew see a message asking an Admin to connect instead. Treat the assistant like a new office admin, and check what it's about to change before you say yes.
Does Foreman work with Gemini?
Foreman works with any assistant that can connect to a remote MCP server. Open the assistant's connector or MCP settings, add Foreman's server address, and approve access in the Foreman window that opens. If it can't do the one-click sign-in, use your Foreman API key from Settings > API & integrations.
How do I disconnect an AI assistant from Foreman?
Remove the Foreman connector in your assistant's settings and access stops straight away. If you connected with an API key, regenerating the key in Settings > API & integrations disconnects every assistant using it. One-click connections aren't affected by regenerating the key.

Ask your sites a question.

Connect the assistant you already use to your site diary, tasks and inductions. No code, no API key.
