Connect Foreman and Microsoft 365
Foreman holds the site record. Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams hold the office. Setting it up needs a business Microsoft account and your IT admin's approval.
- Foreman brings
- The site record: who was on the job, the hours, the photos, the inductions and the dates.
- Microsoft 365 brings
- Outlook email and calendar, files in OneDrive and SharePoint, and Teams chats.
You connect both to the same AI assistant. That is Claude or ChatGPT. Then you ask it, in your own words, for something that needs the two of them, and the assistant does the joining. Nothing gets installed in Foreman.
The technical detail, if you want it
Assistants reach outside tools through something called MCP. Foreman runs its own, Microsoft 365 has one too, and it is built by Anthropic for Claude and by OpenAI for ChatGPT. It needs a business Microsoft account and your IT admin's approval, and it starts read-only until the admin allows more.
Foreman keeps the site record: who was on which job, their hours, the diary, the photos and the induction register. If your office runs on Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams, that is where the rest of the paperwork lives.
Connect both to the same AI assistant and you can ask questions that need both, or move the site record into the files and emails you already use.
Practical ways to use Foreman and Microsoft 365
Check the calendar against who actually turned up.
"Compare the inspections and deliveries in my Outlook calendar this week with the Foreman diary. Which ones don't have a matching diary entry on that day?"
A booked inspection with no diary entry that day is worth a phone call before the certifier invoices you for a wasted trip.
Draft the client's progress update.
"Draft an email to the Pacific Avenue client with a short progress update from this month's diary entries. Plain English, what got done, what's next, any delays and why. Leave it in my drafts."
The diary has what happened on each day. The assistant turns a month of it into an email the client will read, and it waits in your drafts until you send it.
Find the job file and the site record together.
"Find the engineer's latest drawing for Kingsley Street in SharePoint, and tell me what the diary says about the footings on that job."
Your drawings and contracts live in SharePoint or OneDrive. What actually happened on site lives in Foreman. One question covers both.
Post the end-of-day summary to Teams.
"Post a summary to the Kingsley Street channel in Teams: who was on site today, their hours, and any delay mentioned in today's diary entries."
Foreman sends no notifications. Teams can carry the ones you actually want.
Send the induction register to a head contractor.
"Draft an email to the head contractor's site manager with the Kingsley Street induction register as a table in the email: each person's company, white card number and the date they inducted."
Claude's Microsoft connection can't attach files, so put the register in the body of the email, or send a link to it.
What each side brings
Foreman brings the site record: projects, crew, diary entries with hours and photos, tasks, form submissions, documents and the induction register. It never holds money, rates or a schedule.
Microsoft 365 brings your email and calendar in Outlook, your files in OneDrive and SharePoint, and your Teams chats.
Setting it up
Microsoft 365 takes more setting up than Google, and the reason is worth knowing first: it needs a business Microsoft account, and your IT admin has to approve the connection. A personal Outlook.com or Hotmail address won't work.
Claude. Add Foreman as a custom connector, then add Anthropic's Microsoft 365 connector. An admin on your Microsoft tenant approves it once. It starts read-only. To let Claude draft or send email, add calendar events, save files or post in Teams, the admin turns on the write options and approves again. Custom connectors work on every Claude plan, including Free, which allows one: Foreman.
ChatGPT. ChatGPT has separate Outlook Email, Outlook Calendar, SharePoint and Teams apps. Each one needs your Microsoft admin's approval, and a ChatGPT workspace admin has to switch on actions before it can do more than read. ChatGPT's Outlook Calendar app only reads. To add Foreman with the ability to create records, ChatGPT needs a Business or Enterprise plan with developer mode switched on by an admin. On Pro it can only read from Foreman, which covers every example on this page.

Things worth knowing
The assistant does the work, so check it. Read the email or the summary before it goes to a client or a head contractor.
It can only use what your crew logged. If hours weren't logged, they won't be in the answer.
The assistant sees your whole Foreman account once connected. That is what lets one question cover every job, and it is why the Foreman connection is made by an admin, from API and integrations in your settings.
