Connect Foreman and Google Workspace

Foreman holds the site record. Google holds the office: sheets, docs, email and the calendar. Connect both to the same AI assistant and move one into the other by asking.

Foreman brings
The site record: who was on the job, the hours, the photos, the inductions and the dates.
Google Workspace brings
Sheets, Docs, Drive, Gmail and Calendar: the spreadsheet, the folder, the email and the bookings calendar.

You connect both to the same AI assistant. That is Claude or ChatGPT. Then you ask it, in your own words, for something that needs the two of them, and the assistant does the joining. Nothing gets installed in Foreman.

The technical detail, if you want it

Assistants reach outside tools through something called MCP. Foreman runs its own, Google Workspace has one too, and it is built by Anthropic for Claude and by OpenAI for ChatGPT, so there is nothing extra to find or install. Your Google admin may need to allow it first.

Foreman keeps the site record: who was on which job, their hours, the diary, the photos and the induction register. Google Workspace is where the rest of the office work happens: the timesheet spreadsheet, the job folder, the client email, the calendar.

Connect both to the same AI assistant and you can move one into the other by asking, instead of exporting, copying and pasting.

Practical ways to use Foreman and Google Workspace

Put the fortnight's hours into a sheet for the pay run.

"Make a Google Sheet of hours by person by project for the fortnight ending Friday, from the Foreman diary. One row per person per day, with a total for each person."

This is the job the diary's CSV export already half does. Asking for it in a sentence means the columns come out the way your bookkeeper wants them, every time.

Start the handover pack in Docs.

"Make a Google Doc for the Beach House handover: the documents on the job, and every diary entry about the slab, frame, waterproofing and fit-off, with its date."

The diary is the dated record of what went in the walls. A single document the client and the certifier can open is easier to hand over than a login.

Draft the client's progress update.

"Write a short progress update for the Pacific Avenue client from this month's diary entries. Plain English, what got done, what's next, any delays and why. Put it in a Google Doc."

The diary has what happened on each day. The assistant turns a month of it into a page the client will actually read, and you edit it before it goes anywhere.

Check the calendar against who actually turned up.

"Compare the inspections and deliveries in my calendar this week with the Foreman diary. Which ones don't have a matching diary entry on that day?"

A booked inspection with no diary entry that day is worth a phone call before the certifier invoices you for a wasted trip.

Send the induction register to a head contractor.

"Email the induction register for Kingsley Street to the site manager at the head contractor, as a table with each person's company, white card number and the date they inducted."

The register is already in Foreman. Gmail sends it. You read the draft first.

What each side brings

Foreman brings the site record: projects, crew, diary entries with hours and photos, tasks, form submissions, documents and the induction register. It never holds money, rates or a schedule.

Google brings what it is good at: spreadsheets, folders, documents, email and the calendar.

Setting it up

You need an AI assistant with both connected. Claude is the simpler route today.

Claude. Add Foreman as a custom connector, then turn on Claude's own Gmail, Calendar and Drive connectors (and Docs and Sheets if you want it to write files). These are built by Anthropic. Claude can draft and send email, with your approval before anything is sent, add calendar events, and create Docs and Sheets. Custom connectors work on every Claude plan, including Free, which allows one: Foreman. On a Team plan, an owner switches the Google connectors on for everyone.

ChatGPT. ChatGPT has its own Gmail, Calendar and Drive apps. To add Foreman with the ability to create records, ChatGPT needs a Business or Enterprise plan with developer mode switched on by an admin. On Pro it can read from Foreman but not write to it, which still covers every example on this page, since they only read the site record. We couldn't confirm what Plus allows.

If your Google account is run by an IT person, they may need to mark Claude or ChatGPT as a trusted app in the Google Workspace admin console before the connection works.

Checked 30 October 2026. Both assistants change their plans often, so check their help pages if something here has moved.

Things worth knowing

The assistant does the work, so check it. It reads the diary and writes the sheet or the email. Read what it made before it goes to a client, a head contractor or the pay run.

It can only use what your crew logged. If hours weren't logged, they won't be in the sheet.

The assistant sees your whole Foreman account once connected. That is what lets one question cover every job, and it is why the Foreman connection is made by an admin, from API and integrations in your settings.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a built-in Google integration?
No. There is no Google button inside Foreman and nothing to install. You connect Foreman and Google to the same AI assistant, then ask it to do the work that needs both.
Which AI assistant should I use?
Claude is the simpler route today: Foreman and Google can be connected on any Claude plan, and Claude can create Sheets and Docs and draft email. ChatGPT has Google apps too, but adding Foreman with write access needs a Business or Enterprise plan.
Can it send email without me checking?
By default, Claude asks for your approval before it sends an email. Either way, read what it wrote before it goes to a client or a head contractor.
Does Foreman see my Google files?
No. Foreman and Google never connect to each other. The assistant reads from each one when you ask it something.
