Connect Foreman and MYOB
The same job as Xero, for builders on AccountRight — with an honest note that the MYOB side takes more setting up.
- Foreman brings
- The site record: who was on the job, the hours, the photos, the inductions and the dates.
- MYOB brings
- Invoices, bills, contacts and general ledger entries from AccountRight.
You do not connect these to each other. You connect both to the same AI assistant — Claude or ChatGPT — and then just ask it, in your own words, for something that needs the two of them. The assistant is the bit in the middle. There is nothing to install and no code to write.
The technical detail, if you want it
Assistants reach outside tools through something called MCP. Foreman runs its own, MYOB has one too, and it is not built by MYOB themselves, so you choose between a few made by other people. The usual one can read your accounts but never change them. Expect more setup than Xero.
The same job as Xero, for builders on AccountRight. Foreman holds the site record and MYOB holds the money, and an assistant connected to both can answer questions that neither can answer alone.
Practical ways to use Foreman and MYOB
Match a subbie's bill to the days he was on site.
"Compare what the carpenters billed on Beach House in March against the diary."
Cost a finished job.
"What went into the Pacific Avenue patio? Hours from the diary, bills from MYOB."
Assemble the backup for a progress claim.
"Pull the diary for Kingsley Street from the 1st to the 15th so I can attach it to the claim."
Find work that has not been invoiced.
"Which jobs have diary entries this fortnight with nothing billed against them?"
Check labour against the pay run.
"Hours logged per person last fortnight, next to what went through payroll."
Look at a year of jobs together.
"Which of last year's jobs used the most hours for what they brought in?"
Setting it up takes longer than Xero
Foreman's half is the same one click from API and integrations, and you need an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT either way. The accounting half is where this differs.
MYOB have not built this themselves, the way Xero have. So instead of one obvious option there are a few built by other people, and you have to pick one. The main one only reads your accounts and never changes them, which is fine for everything on this page, because every question here is a read. Expect this to take longer than the Xero version, and check that whichever one you pick can actually see what you need before you rely on it.
This is the one page on this site where we would genuinely suggest asking us first. It is not hard, but it is fiddlier than it should be, and we have done it before.
If you use Xero instead, that page covers the same ground with an easier setup.
Where this falls over
Your bills need to be coded to jobs. The assistant matches a bill to a site using whatever in AccountRight says which job it belongs to. If everything goes to one expense account, you will get the hours and none of the money.
The MYOB half is not ours. Whichever option you pick, we cannot fix it or support it, and the read-only ones will refuse anything that tries to change your accounts.
Nothing is written back. Foreman never touches your accounts.

Want a hand setting this up?
Most builders get this working in about ten minutes, and you do not need to be technical to do it. But if you would rather not work it out on your own, tell us what you are trying to get out of MYOB and we will set it up with you — on a call, at no cost, whether or not you are paying us anything.
